Octoloc and CarLocate: "Respond quickly to suspicious behavior with geofencing alerts"
In an effort to optimize the management and security of its vehicles, the long-term rental company Octoloc chose Echoes to enhance its fleet tracking capabilities. Marion Martin, Operations Manager, shares her experience with us.
Could you tell us about Octoloc and what it does?
Octoloc is a company specializing in long-term vehicle rentals for businesses. We are based in Aubergenville in the Yvelines department and serve customers throughout France, particularly in Paris and the Île-de-France region. Our fleet consists of approximately 200 vehicles of various makes (excluding sports cars), available for 24-month leases with a mileage limit of 60,000 km.
What challenges did you face before adopting Echoes' CarLocate?
We were looking for a solution to improve real-time tracking of our vehicles and optimize our fleet management, but above all to combat the risk of theft and hijacking.
Why did you choose Echoes to secure your fleet?
We were looking for a solution that was both effective and easy to integrate. CarLocate won us over with its advanced geolocation technology and its system for alerting us to high-risk zones (geofencing— read our article explaining geofencing). The fact that no hardware installation was required also convinced us, as it reduces costs and technical constraints. We began connecting our vehicles in October 2024. Shortly after adopting CarLocate, we were able to recover a vehicle located at the Port of Marseille thanks to the alerts and the system’s accuracy. This experience convinced us of the tool’s reliability, and since then, we have been fully satisfied with Echoes’ services.
How do you use CarLocate on a daily basis?
Thanks to geofencing alerts, we can monitor the location of each vehicle in real time and respond quickly in the event of suspicious activity. Each alert is handled based on the customer’s profile and the vehicle’s location, allowing us to be more proactive in our risk management. In the event of a confirmed theft, we can directly contact the CarControl recovery service provided by Echoes.
How satisfied are you with CarLocate?
We find the tool very user-friendly, intuitive, and ready to use right away. To avoid losing rental days, a vehicle should ideally be connected on the very day it arrives at our fleet. This is very difficult with traditional devices, whereas the Echoes solution allows vehicles to be connected almost instantly. Furthermore, the Echoes teams are efficient and responsive; any issue reported is handled quickly and professionally.
How do you see fleet management evolving in the coming years?
I think it’s important to try to anticipate future problems that might arise and to continually improve our management methods. Today, with Echoes, we have peace of mind. We know where our vehicles are, and we can respond if a problem arises.
